Return to the Garden: Awakening
Through Nature's Wisdom

Save the Date - October 3rd-10th

Hawaii Retreat

Members of Sacred Garden are invited to join us for a soul-stirring retreat in the heart of Kona, Hawaii, where the land itself becomes a teacher, guide, and sacred ally.  This immersive pilgrimage invites you to step into deep communion with the natural world, weaving together ancient plant ceremonies, hands-on ecological practices, and heartfelt community connection-all set against the lush, untamed beauty of Hawaii's sacred landscape.

Sacred Garden has 10 spaces available at Opihihale Ethnobotanical Preserve, a 10-acre ancient Hawaiian rainforest lovingly stewarded by SGC elder Leanna Standish since 2003. This sacred land carries a profound legacy-originally cultivated by Dennis and Terence McKenna, Dr. Luis Luna, and Kathleen Harrison nearly 50 years ago. With permission, they brought sacred plants from Peru to the Big Island, where they have since flourished. Today, the preserve serves as both a sanctuary and home to revered plants such as B. caapi, P. viridis, S. divinorum, and Brugmansia species.

This retreat is designed to provide a seamless and immersive experience. Your donation of $2,250 includes airport pickup, nourishing meals, lodging, and three sacred ceremonies, allowing you to fully surrender into the journey with ease.

We anticipate high demand, so we can open up 3 additional ceremony spaces for guests staying overnight at an offsite location. We recommend Dragonfly Ranch and securing a rental car is recommended. Since you will be taking care of your own lodging and transportation, the price will be $2,250 if you register before June 30th.

This retreat is reserved for Sacred Garden Community Members who are Practitioners, meaning people who are tithing, confirmed,  and have completed our health and safety screening process. Anyone who is interested in this retreat, but is not currently a member, has the opportunity to pursue membership through our registration process or can contact [email protected].

What Awaits You...

Dieta

Enjoy freshly baked breads, wholesome meals, and vibrant fruits and juices.  The menu is mostly vegan, with non-vegan options available.

Sacramental Ceremonies

Three sacred plant ceremonies (Redwood, Roundhouse, and Heart) will be held within a deeply held community container, where the wisdom of the plants meets the power of shared intention.

Sacred Plant Preparation

Experience the sacred art of preparation, where ancient wisdom meets hands-on reverence. Through guided teachings, we’ll honor the plants, learn their stories, and engage in mindful preparation, deepening our connection to the sacrament and the land that nurtures it.

Ecological Activities may Include...

Permaculture Chop and Drop: Learn a regenerative gardening technique where pruned plant material is left on-site as mulch, enriching soil, retaining moisture, and naturally suppressing weeds while reducing the need for external inputs.

Rainforest Path Making:  We will learn how to clear trails using low-impact techniques to minimize disruption, avoiding unnecessary tree removal, preserving root systems, and allowing natural regeneration while maintaining essential biodiversity and soil stability.

Eco-Build: We will take a sustainable construction approach using locally sourced, renewable, and low-impact materials to create durable, energy-efficient structures that harmonize with the environment while reducing waste and carbon footprint.
